Samsung has introduced its inaugural generative AI model, named 'Samsung Gauss,' during the Samsung AI Forum 2023. This extensive language model is proficient in understanding human language and providing responses. In addition, it can generate text and images, assist in email composition and editing, and summarize documents. Samsung even suggests that it can serve as a coding assistant.
Developed by Samsung Research, the technology giant's research division, portions of Samsung Gauss are capable of running locally on devices like smartphones and tablets. It encompasses three key components: Samsung Gauss Language, Samsung Gauss Code, and Samsung Gauss Image.
Samsung Gauss Language: This element is comparable to ChatGPT and can comprehend human language, responding to user queries.
Samsung Gauss Code: It collaborates with the company's code assistant, 'code.i,' and aids in generating code, including code descriptions and test cases.
Samsung Gauss Image: This tool facilitates the generation of images from text, offers photo editing capabilities, and converts low-resolution images into high resolution.
Samsung reports that Gauss is currently being used internally by company employees to enhance productivity and will eventually be accessible across a range of products in the future.
Samsung may potentially integrate Samsung Gauss into its upcoming Galaxy S24 flagship series, expected to launch in January next year. The tech giant has also recently integrated generative AI features into its in-house voice assistant, Bixby, enabling it to comprehend context even without predefined commands.
